VORONEZH, December 8 (RIA Novosti) - One woman has contracted HIV from donated blood in Voronezh, central Russia, local prosecutors said Thursday.

The woman, 21, was diagnosed with HIV in mid-November after she had delivered her baby in the hospital. Her child is HIV- because she underwent a blood transfusion after giving birth.

According to the local welfare department, a 35-year-old woman donated blood eight times in the period of December 2004-May 2005, the last time being May 5. On May 20, she was diagnosed with HIV.

Seventy out of the 208 people who could have, in theory, contracted the virus from albumin injections of the infected donor blood have taken blood tests and been confirmed HIV-.

The investigation is ongoing. If convicted, the hospital personnel responsible could be sentenced to five years in prison.
