MOSCOW, January 12 (RIA Novosti) - Two of the eight people hurt in an attack on a synagogue in central Moscow are in a serious but stable condition, a spokesman for the Federation of Russia's Jewish Communities said Thursday.
Borukh Gorin said two men injured in the Wednesday evening attack had been operated on by midnight. "One underwent an operation to the neck, and the other one the spine," he said.
"They are both in an intensive care in the hospital," he said. "Doctors say their condition is serious, but stable."
None of the eight people injured in the attack, when a young man burst into the synagogue on Bolshaya Bronnaya Street wielding a knife and shouting threats, has been discharged from the hospital so far, Gorin said.
Prosecutors have charged 20-year-old Muscovite Alexander Koptsev, who at least one Russian newspaper has suggested had fallen under the influence of violent computer games, with attempted murder, causing premeditated bodily harm, and inciting racial or religious discord, prosecutors said earlier.
Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov has taken the investigation into the attack under his personal control.
