MOSCOW, January 13 (RIA Novosti) - Twenty one dead bodies have been pulled from a bus involved in a collision with a train Friday morning in southern Russia, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

"Five people are in a serious condition," the ministry said. "The number of victims may still rise."

The tragedy occurred at a level crossing in the Krasnodar Territory at 8:34 a.m. Moscow time (5:34 a.m. GMT).

The ministry spokesman said 90 people were traveling on the train, but said none of the passengers had been killed.

An official of the ministry's southern regional department said poor weather may have been responsible for the accident.

"According to some sources, visibility was poor at the level crossing due to fog," he said.

The official added that the train derailed after the collision, and cited eye witnesses as saying that the bus nearly split into two pieces after the clash.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General's Office has said the death toll has risen to 22.
