* Daghestan's chief prosecutor said law enforcers had killed 41 militants wanted for terrorism offenses during operations in the North Caucasus republic in 2005

* Chechen police said the republic's law enforcers were investigating information provided by a local resident on the abduction Thursday of his two sons

* Police in Daghestan said a suspect in terrorist attacks on federal troops in 2002 had been detained in the Khasavyurt district in the west of the republic

* Chechen law enforcers said two suspected militants had been detained in the republic's capital of Grozny and in the city of Argun in central Chechnya

* The Chechen Interior Ministry said unknown armed assailants had abducted a schoolteacher and his brother in the republic's capital of Grozny on January 11

* Chechen law enforcers said a 16-year-old girl had died in Grozny after handling a handgun left unattended by her policeman relative

* Interior Ministry officials said a Chechen suspected of supplying militants with weapons had been detained at his home in Daghestan's western district of Khasavyurt

* The Interior Ministry said a cache of weapons and ammunition had been discovered in the Chechen capital of Grozny

* A police source said at least two militants had been killed in a special operation in Daghestan
