PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, April 12 (RIA Novosti) - A magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit the western coast of the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia's Far East Wednesday morning, local emergencies officials said.
The quake epicenter was registered in Kamchatka Bay at 2.06 p.m. local time (1.06 a.m. GMT).
The nearest populated areas of Klyuchi and Ust-Kamchatsk registered the quake at magnitude 3-4. No major tremor was registered in the regional center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, located 546km (about 340 miles) from the epicenter.
No casualties or emergencies have been reported.
