MOSCOW, April 21 (RIA Novosti) - Two people died and four were injured early Friday in a fire at a Moscow University hostel in a Stalin-era skyscraper, an emergencies official said.

About 600 people were evacuated from the building, the official said, adding that the fire had been extinguished completely.

In a separate development, three people died early Friday in a fire at a 16-store apartment bloc in the Khimki suburb of Moscow.

The Emergency Situations Ministry said earlier this week that about 6,000 people, including 208 children, had died in fires in Russia during the first three months of 2006, which make the average daily death toll to 66.
