MOSCOW, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Flamboyant Russian politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who is perhaps better known for ultra-nationalist television rants than his law-making activity, will celebrate his 60th birthday Tuesday in a typically modest style.

The leader of Russia's curiously named Liberal Democratic Party of Russia will mark the occasion in the Kremlin Palace, which will then be followed by a film about himself, a pop-music concert and an outdoor disco in downtown Moscow.

The day will begin with a one-hour report from the former lawyer and current deputy chairman of the lower chamber of parliament called A Different Historical Perspective. It will be shown as part of LDPR's 18th convention, which is timed to coincide with the occasion.

At 1 p.m. Moscow time (9 a.m. GMT), a film will be screened - Zhirinovsky. A Political Rhapsody - about the colorful politician who, according to the party's press service, prefers to be called "master" by his fellow party members.

"I have a strong dislike for being called 'boss' or 'chief'. Why not be simple and call me 'master'," the LDPR Web site quoted him as saying.

The screening will be followed by a concert. Zhirinovsky, who stole the political limelight in 1993 parliamentary elections with an unexpected triumph, said he would welcome pop stars sitting in a throne made of rare wood and decorated with leopard skin, a present from Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi.

At night, a disco for all will be organized on Manezh Square near the Kremlin, and Zhirinovsky will personally greet all those who attend his party, the press service said.

Zhirinovsky, known in the West for his appeal to "wash Russian soldier's boots in the Indian ocean" in a book prior to the outbreak of the first Gulf war, will mark his birthday with publishing six new books. Over the many years of his long political career, which has included throwing orange juice over "young reformer" Boris Nemtsov and becoming involved in a television studio brawl, the politician has written several dozen books, and is now working on a special textbook for students called Ethnogeopolitics, according to the party Web site.

The LDPR leader has also released a new Zhirinovsky brand of cigarettes timed for his birthday - he earlier featured on a brand of vodka named after him - and has organized an exhibition in Moscow of original presents he has received, including Qaddafi's present, and a dog statue made of 60kg of gold from former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Zhirinovsky will celebrate his birthday in a family circle later in the week after he returns from St. Petersburg, where Russian members of parliament will fly to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Russian parliament on Wednesday.
