Government officials will deliver reports on amendments to existing legislation and laws to be repealed to be made in line with the country's taxation policy for 2007-2009.
Earlier this week, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said a raft of amendments would be introduced to improve tax administration, as well as encourage oil production, index customs tariffs rates, and increase social payments as part of income tax.
"After the amendments are made to the [tax] law this year, it will remain unchanged for quite a long time," Zhukov told a Cabinet meeting attended by President Vladimir Putin.
First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told a government session Friday that tax law needed "continual optimization" to support the growth of an entrepreneurial culture.
The agenda also includes new clauses on measures to be introduced in the Penal and Correctional codes, as well as issues including the social and economic development of the Volga region Republic of Mordovia, youth affairs, and allocation of reserve funds to the Republic of Yakutia in East Siberia.
