MOSCOW, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - Local prosecutors said Thursday they had handed over to the Prosecutor General's Office an investigation into an air crash Wednesday morning in the Black Sea that left over 100 people dead.
An Airbus A-320 belonging to Armenia's Armavia Airlines flying from the country's capital, Yerevan, crashed about six kilometers from the Russian coast en route to an airport in Adler, which services the resort of Sochi. The 105 passengers and eight crewmembers are all presumed dead.
"The case has been handed over to ... the [federal] Prosecutor General's Office," said the prosecutor's office of the southern Krasnodar Territory, which started the inquiry.
Krasnodar prosecutors said rescuers were continuing a search for flight data recorders to help explain the reasons for the crash, and studying the records of conversations between air traffic controllers and the crew.
