"We cannot say that it was a terrorist attack at this stage," Sergei Chernyshev said, adding that the cause of the crash would be established after flight data recorders had been recovered.

MOSCOW, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's domestic security service said Thursday a terrorist attack was unlikely to have caused an air crash over the Black Sea early Wednesday morning that claimed 113 lives.

The Prosecutor General's Office categorically ruled out terrorism yesterday and a spokesman for the Federal Security Service seemed to support this position Thursday.

"We cannot say that it was a terrorist attack at this stage," Sergei Chernyshev said, adding that the cause of the crash would be established after flight data recorders had been recovered.

Crash investigators have suggested that stormy weather was more likely responsible for the loss of the Armenian Airbus A-320, while other versions, including human error, are also under consideration.

The Prosecutor General's Office said Wednesday that terrorism was not in the frame. "The only thing that can be said about the versions of what happened is that a terrorist attack has been completely ruled out," its press service said.
