MOSCOW, May 10 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin highlighted the role of the UN in securing international order and urged reform of the organization in his annual state of the nation address Wednesday.
"Amid ongoing globalization, when a new international architecture is taking shape, the role of the UN is increasing greatly. This is the most representative and universal world forum, and is the mainstay of the modern world order," Putin said.
"Clearly, the foundations of this organization were laid during quite a different era, and it [UN] is obviously in need of reform," Putin said.
