NALCHIK, May 11 (RIA Novosti) - The bodies of several climbers from Russia and Ukraine have been found on Europe's highest peak two days after contact was lost with them, rescue services said Thursday.
"Rescue teams discovered Thursday the bodies of several missing climbers near Mount Elbrus during a search operation involving helicopters of the Emergency Situations Ministry and Interior Ministry of [the North Caucasus Republic of] Kabardino-Balkaria," a local emergencies ministry official said without specifying the number of the bodies.
He said the climbers might have frozen to death.
Two groups of 14 climbers went missing late Tuesday at an altitude of 4,300 meters (14,000 feet).
