VLADIVOSTOK, May 12 (RIA Novosti) - Joint Russian-French naval exercises to practice communication and maneuvering skills for future joint rescue and other operations started in the northwestern Pacific Ocean Friday, a Russian fleet spokesman said.
The exercises, being held in Peter the Great Bay, involve the French Navy's Prairial frigate and the Admiral Panteleyev anti-submarine boat from Russia's Pacific Fleet, Captain Alexander Kosolapov said.
The exercises mark the Prairial's fourth visit to the main base of the Russian Pacific Fleet under a cooperation agreement between the Pacific Fleet and the French naval forces.
