Russia is urging oil exporting nations to boost aid to countries affected by high oil prices, the Russian finance minister said Sunday.

SHARM-EL-SHEIKH, Egypt, May 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is urging oil exporting nations to boost aid to countries affected by high oil prices, the Russian finance minister said Sunday.

Alexei Kudrin said Russia had contributed 30 million SDRs (Special Drawing Rights, an international reserve asset created by the International Monetary Fund) equivalent to $45 million to the IMF's anti-shock fund to help countries affected by high oil prices, which could not stabilize their financial and economic position.

"We want together with international financial organizations to broaden access for the poorest countries to world energy sources," Kudrin told a meeting of the G-8 group of the most industrialized nations being held as part of the group's partnership with the Middle East and North Africa.
