2 terror suspects dead as police storm house in south Russia
MAKHACHKALA, May 22 (RIA Novosti) - A warlord suspected of carrying out terrorist attacks in southern Daghestan is thought to have died with an accomplice after police stormed the house where they were holed up, a senior official said.
Sergei Solodovnikov, deputy head Interior Ministry's southern department, said police had surrounded the two-story house in the town of Khasavyurt on Sunday in their pursuit of warlord Bulat Abdullayev, known as "Bulik".
Solodovnikov said Abdullayev and an accomplice were thought to have died after the house caught fire during a shoot-out with officers. He added that a final report on the operation would come after the debris had been cleared.
He said three police officers wounded in the siege had been hospitalized in stable condition.
