MOSCOW, May 23 (RIA Novosti) - Globalization is inevitable, but people should not be afraid of it, Russia's trade and economic development minister said Tuesday.
"There is no need fear globalization, but we must make use of the competitive advantages it offers," German Gref said.
"We can achieve real success and real capitalization of companies only through the conditions of the global market, and the global situation," he said
Gref said Russia's domestic market was inadequate for the establishment of competitive production.
With regard to aircraft manufacturing, for example, he said: "If we were to focus only on the domestic market, we would lose this sector altogether."
Domestic demand for civic and military equipment is also insufficient, and Russia needs other markets, Gref said.
