WASHINGTON, May 24 (RIA Novosti, Alexei Berezin) - Russia's civilian nuclear chief said Tuesday that at least 40 new nuclear reactors are needed by 2030 if nuclear power is to retain its importance for the domestic energy market.
"We need to build about 40 units just to keep the share of nuclear power [in the energy market]," Sergei Kiriyenko said at a press conference in Washington, where he is on a week-long visit that ends Wednesday.
"If we want to increase this share, we should develop [the sector] faster," he said.
