MOSCOW, May 29 (RIA Novosti) - A gunman thought to have been involved in a major attack on the North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia in 2004 has been detained in Kazakhstan, Russia's domestic security service said Monday.
The Federal Security Service said the Prosecutor General's Office would seek the extradition of Z. Sampiyev, (born in 1985), a member of Arab mercenary Abu Dzeit's gang.
In June 2004 militants attacked 19 police precincts and prisons in Ingushetia. A total of 90 people, including 62 police officers and 28 civilians, were killed and 93 injured in the raid.
