MOSCOW, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - An expedition from the federal mineral resources agency has discovered an ore field measuring 0.5 sq km at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, the agency said Tuesday.
The field, located about 2,000 km (1,243 miles) offshore between Africa and the Caribbean, contains copper and zinc as well as gold and silver. The field's estimated resources stand at over 13 million metric tons of ore.
The expedition conducted research work in the Atlantic Ocean from December 2005 to May 2006.
