NAZRAN, June 1 (RIA Novosti) - The health minister of the troubled North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia was uninjured following an assassination attempt Thursday, the local interior ministry said.
Attackers using assault rifles shot at Magomet Aliskhanov's car at noon local time (8.00 a.m. GMT), a ministry spokesman said.
"Fortunately, the bullets did not hit the minister or his driver," he said, adding that the shots left four holes in the minister's car.
Police said an operation was under way to intercept the attackers, who had escaped in a car without a registration plate.
