MOSCOW, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - The head of Russia's domestic security service Friday congratulated U.S. colleagues for successful elimination of the al-Qaeda leader in Iraq.
The Jordanian-born leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was killed Thursday in a coalition forces' air strike north of the capital, Baghdad.
Speaking on TV channel Russia, Nikolai Patrushev said that Russian security services had also managed to eliminate almost all militant leaders on Russia's territory.
He also said that the Federal Security Service (FSB) continued the search for international terrorist Shamil Basayev and expressed hope that Russia's most wanted warlord would be caught soon.
