KOLA, Murmansk Region, June 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's interior minister said Thursday his ministry's priority for 2006 was to improve the quality of municipal and district interior departments for efficient fight against crimes.
Rashid Nurgaliyev said the Interior Ministry had compiled a list of regional and district interior departments that needed most support from the ministry.
"This includes a whole set of measures, from raising the professional level of personnel to enhancement of material and technical as well as financial bases," Nurgaliyev said at the opening of the new Kola district interior department facility in Russia's northern Murmansk Region.
He said the ministry's budget allocations last year were redistributed in favor of low-standing interior departments, and that the ministry had also approved a program for providing financial, material and technical help.
