GROZNY, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - Police have detained two persons suspected of helping militants in the troubled Republic of Chechnya in Russia's North Caucasus, a source in the Chechen Interior Ministry said Sunday.

During a search operation in the village of Rubezhnoye in the Naursky district in northern Chechnya, the police detained a local resident suspected of providing assistance to militants and supplying them with information on the routes of movement and the areas of location of federal troops in 1994-1995, the source said.

The second accomplice was detained at his place of residence in the village of Sernovodsk in the Sunzha district in western Chechnya on suspicion of providing similar assistance to militants from 2001, the source said.
