MOSCOW, July 6 (RIA Novosti) - Producers, transit countries and consumers of energy resources should equally share risks to ensure energy security, Russia President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
"One of the key issues [in energy security] is the fair distribution of risks between producers, transit countries and consumers of energy resources," Putin said at a meeting with heads of international and national trade unions from the Group of Eight industrialized nations.
The president urged players on the energy market to conclude long-term contracts to reduce investment risks.
Trade union leaders gathered in Moscow Thursday ahead of the July 15-17 G8 summit in St. Petersburg to discuss key issues of international trade, energy security, health care, poverty and unemployment.
