MOSCOW, July 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's president congratulated his American counterpart on his 60th birthday Thursday, the Kremlin press office reported.
"I appreciate our genuine relations of trust," Vladimir Putin told George Bush on the telephone. "I know you as an honest man, whose actions never run counter to his words, and as a reliable friend.
"In my opinion, our joint efforts have brought satisfactory results, as we have been trying to maintain our cooperation heeding each other's interests. This is an important factor promoting more profound Russian-American cooperation ... and international stability. And we have much to do in this sphere together," Putin said.
The presidents also discussed international and bilateral issues and preparations for a summit of the Group of Eight leading industrialized nations Russia will host later in July.
