MOSCOW, July 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia hopes that the head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council will positively respond to the Iran-6 package of incentives, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Russia Today television Tuesday.
Lavrov said EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana would meet with Ali Larijani in Brussels today, and Larijani would present Tehran's reaction to the proposals.
He said Russia hoped the meeting would give a positive signal from Tehran and confirm Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statements made at a meeting with Vladimir Putin in mid-June in Shanghai.
The Iranian leader said then that Tehran took a positive view on the package of incentives proposed by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany, and would respond at a later date.
