Dmitry Peskov said the press center, which can accommodate 3,000-4,000 journalists, would close on Monday at midnight, after the three-day summit of the leaders of the world's most developed nations comes to an end.
The leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, Germany, Canada and France will be joining Russian President Vladimir Putin for Russia's debut G8 summit in the country's second largest city on July 15-17.
The press center is located 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from St. Petersburg on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, close to the early 19th century Constantine Palace, part of the 180-hectare (445-acre) Palace of Congresses, which will host most of the summit events.
The organizing committee member said high-speed Internet, and national and international telephone links were available to reporters free of charge. About 4,000 reporters from 63 countries have received accreditation to cover the summit.
One of the center's pavilions is located near a pier with lifeboats for journalists to travel to St. Petersburg.
There are five premises for news conferences and briefings, one with capacity for 400 people, two for 200, and two for 100.
Separate premises have been allocated to major news agencies and broadcasting companies. Television and radio companies share a separate part of the press center, with 120 fully-equipped cabins.
A special platform has been set up on the coast for live broadcasts with the Constantine Palace or the press center in the background.
