MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Kalina [RTS: KLNA], one of Russia's leading cosmetics producers, said Tuesday its net profit according to Russian Accounting Standards totaled $12.1 million in the first half of 2006, down 11.7% from the same period of last year.
Kalina said its pre-tax profit had slipped 11.9% to $17 million in January-June, while sales revenue climbed 17.3% to $135 million. Gross profits hit $64.69 million, up 14.3% year-on-year, while operating profits came in at $29.49 million, representing a 17.7% rise.
Kalina, headquartered in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg, has a factory in Siberia and subsidiaries in Ukraine, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, as well as in Russia. It holds a controlling stake in German cosmetics producer Dr. Scheller Cosmetics AG.
