Part of an oil pipeline in Ingushetia was damaged early Tuesday after two explosions went off simultaneously, causing an oil spill and fire near the village of Voznesenskaya in the north of the republic.
"There are no signs of terrorism in the actions of the unidentified [assailants] who blew up a pipeline in a region of the Republic of Ingushetia," a statement on the Prosecutor General's Office Website said.
Prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into intentional destruction or damage to property and illegal possession of explosives.
"[Suspected] criminals planted two powerful hollow-charge devices on the pipeline, and both detonated almost simultaneously," a police spokesman said earlier in the day, adding that it took firefighters three hours to extinguish a 20-meter-high pillar of fire. No one was hurt.
