Russia could control up to 25% of the world's nuclear-fuel services market, the country's nuclear chief said Monday.
MOSCOW, September 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia could control up to 25% of the world's nuclear-fuel services market, the country's nuclear chief said Monday.

"Russia believes that 25% of the world's market in nuclear fuel-cycle services, including uranium enrichment, is an optimal share," said Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Power (Rosatom). "Technically and technologically, we are well positioned for this."

He was upbeat over prospects for Russia's cooperation in the nuclear realm with the Asia Pacific countries, including China.

"I am optimistic on our cooperation in the nuclear energy sphere with China," he said.

He said he saw no impediments to such cooperation except for considerations of economic expediency.

Russia is building two energy units at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China.
