Nornickel raises palladium, platinum production forecasts in 2006

Norilsk Nickel [RTS: GMKN] has raised its palladium and platinum production forecast in 2006 by 3.2% and 4.5%, correspondingly, the company said Monday.
MOSCOW, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - Norilsk Nickel [RTS: GMKN] has raised its palladium and platinum production forecast in 2006 by 3.2% and 4.5%, correspondingly, the company said Monday.

"In connection with the reduction of volumes of uncompleted production and the achievement of higher real indices on metals extraction, the company is raising the expected volume of palladium production in 2006 from 3,050,000-3,100,000 ounces [95-96 metric tons] to 3,150,000-3,190,000 ounces [98-99 tons]," the world's largest producer of nickel and palladium said in a press release.

At the same time, Norilsk Nickel said, the expected volumes of nickel and copper production in 2006 remained unchanged.
