MOSCOW, October 23 (RIA Novosti) - Inflation was 7.4% in Russia this year as of October 16, the economics minister said Monday.
"From October 1 until October 16, inflation was 0.2%, which is 50% lower than in October 2005," German Gref said at a Cabinet session.
Last year's inflation figures were 8.6% for 9M05, and 10.9% for the whole of the year.
The government adjusted its 2006 inflation target earlier this year from 8.5% to 9%.
And Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said the real appreciation of the ruble was 8.1% over the first nine months of the year.
