MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) - Agents of the Federal Drugs Control Service have broken up a Tajik drug ring, seizing about 158 kilograms of heroin with a street value of more than $2 million, a senior service official said Wednesday.
"Five members of a criminal group have been detained, including its organizer and his close associates," Lt. Gen. Alexander Vasilyev, head of the service's Moscow Region Directorate, said. "A total of about 158 kilograms of heroin, produced in Afghanistan, was seized."
He said the amount was equivalent to at least 3.5 million doses.
