GROZNY, November 15 (RIA Novosti) - A serviceman has been killed in a landmine explosion in southeast Chechnya, the Interior Ministry of the Russian North Caucasus republic said Wednesday.
A ministry spokesman said a junior sergeant of the interior troops sustained a fragmentation wound during a reconnaissance operation near the village of Tazen-Kala in the Vedeno district, aimed at finding militant groups still active in the troubled republic following two wars between 1994 and 2002.
The soldier, born in 1986, died in hospital.
