ST. PETERSBURG, December 11 (RIA Novosti) - A student from India was attacked and beaten Sunday evening in St. Petersburg, the police said Monday.
"According to preliminary information, the attack on the Indian national was an attempted robbery," the police said. "Unknown suspects delivered several blows to his face but he managed to escape."
The attack in St. Petersburg was not the only attack on foreigners in Russia Sunday night. Three citizens of North Korea were beaten in an apparently racially motivated attack in Vladivostok, in Russia's Far East. One of the victims died Monday in a hospital from his injuries.
St. Petersburg has been a focus for race-hate attacks in recent months. In September, an Indian student was stabbed to death in the city, and a Sudanese national was attacked.
