MOSCOW, December 22 (RIA Novosti) - A spill of highly toxic chloride forced residents to evacuate a village in the western Urals, an emergencies ministry spokesperson said Friday.
"The spill from one of 40 barrels of highly-toxic chloride that have been discovered near a village in the Perm Territory created a poisonous cloud, which spread over 3 kilometers (1.8 miles), with a toxic chemical concentration 40 times above the norm," the source said.
All 68 residents of the village have been evacuated. No casualties have been reported so far, the ministry said.
