Russia's Aeroflot Airbus lands in Prague after hijack attempt
The A-320 airliner with more than 100 passengers onboard was en route from Moscow to Geneva but had to land in Prague after a hijacker tried to attack the crew.
"Preliminary reports say an attempt was made to attack the crew," Aeroflot's Irina Dannenberg said. "The liner is now at the airport which is cordoned off by police."
Aeroflot's air security service said the suspected hijacker had been arrested.
"It is a man with Slavic appearances who speaks Russian well," an air security official said, adding that the plane would resume the flight after an additional examination and baggage checks.
The Czech Web site novinky.cz said quoting police chief Vladislav Gusak that the passengers had managed to stop the hijacker themselves.
The Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic said the Czech police were questioning the suspect.
