Moscow airports not affected by bad weather - air traffic control

MOSCOW, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow airports have not been affected by a heavy snowfall and gusty winds but aircraft pilots have been advised to make flight decisions at their discretion, an air traffic control spokesman said Saturday.
A powerful cyclone that has been sweeping across Europe for the past two days has reached northwest and central Russia bringing heavy snow storms and strong winds to the Moscow Region.
"At present, all airports in Moscow [Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Domodedovo] are operating in real-time weather assessment conditions; that is - all crew captains make decisions to take off or land at their discretion," the official said. "But none of the airports [in the capital] has been closed."
He said the visibility at the airports was normal - more than 1,000 meters (about 3,300 feet) - and no flights had been re-routed to alternative airfields.
