ALGIERS, January 21 (RIA Novosti) - Algeria has invited Russia to participate in its new electric power projects, Russia's industry and energy minister said Sunday.

"The Algerian side has proposed to Russia to participate in new projects (the construction, operation and maintenance of electric power stations, and also in the modernization of electric energy facilities under tenders announced in the republic" Viktor Khristenko said, following the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the two countries in the Algerian capital.

The parties also expressed their intention to develop cooperation in the fields of energy efficiency and energy saving, Khristenko said.
