YEKATERINBURG, February 2 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian passenger jetliner with more than 100 people on board made a successful emergency landing in the eastern Urals region owing to technical failure, airport officials said Friday.
The TU-154 mid-range plane, operated by Krasnoyarsk Airlines, landed Thursday evening at the airport of Yekaterinburg, 1,036 miles east of Moscow, after one of its engines failed. It touched down at 10:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. GMT).
The jet was flying to the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk from Krasnodar, in southern Russia.
This is the second incident in Russia this week involving the Soviet-era Tu-154.
Another Tu-154 en route to the Urals city of Orenburg made an emergency landing at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport Monday after a fire alarm went off indicating a fire in one of its three engines.
None of the 51 passengers and nine-member crew was injured.
