MOSCOW, February 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russian law enforcement agencies have solved 86 of the 112 acts of terrorism registered across Russia in 2006, a deputy interior minister said Wednesday.

"In all, 112 acts of terrorism were registered across the country in 2006, and 86 of them have been solved," Alexander Chekalin said, adding that "90% of them were registered in the Caucasus, in Chechnya."

The official added that law enforcement also solved 1,800 terrorism-related crimes or acts of so-called telephone terrorism, when police receive false telephone calls warning of terrorist threats.

Chekalin said law enforcement agencies have developed a special system to detect and find telephone terrorists, who can be sentenced to at least three years in prison, in line with the Russian Criminal Code.
