MOSCOW, February 8 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] has set out a plan of measures on the construction of a platform at the Prirazlomnoye oilfield on the shelf of the Barents Sea, the company said Thursday.
The plan covers the period beginning with the platform's construction in 2007 until the start of the oilfield's development, the company said in the statement, adding that concerned committees have already been issued instructions to prepare proposals on the organization of naval transport and technological systems, land allocation in the port of Varandei and the construction of a storage terminal.
The Prirazlomnoye oilfield is located to the south of Novaya Zemlya, in northern Russia, 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the nearest shore, in an area that is ice free only 110 days a year.
The oilfield's reserves are estimated at about 600 million barrels.
