SEVILLE (Spain), February 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia only sells armaments systems abroad under strict export control, the country's defense minister said Friday.
"It is no secret that not a single antitank missile made by Russia ended up in Hezbollah hands," Sergei Ivanov, who is also a deputy prime minister, told journalists following an informal Russia-NATO meeting in Spain in answer to a question as to whether Russia could do anything to stop Syrian provisions of weapons to the Islamist group.
He said Hezbollah captured the armaments from Israel.
Russia has played a prominent role in Middle East peace negotiations through the Quartet of mediators, which also comprises the United States, the EU and the UN.
