MOSCOW, February 13 (RIA Novosti) - An airliner which declared an emergency on board has successfully touched down at the airport of the West Siberian town of Surgut, an emergency service said Tuesday.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations said earlier in the day that the Tu-134 plane, en route from Nadym to Surgut with 34 passengers and seven crewmembers on board, was preparing for an emergency landing after a chassis failure system went off.

The ministry said that the plane, owned by Siberia-based airline UTAir, Russia's fifth-largest carrier, circled over Surgut to burn off all of its fuel.

Firefighters, rescuers and ambulances met the airliner when it landed.
