IRKUTSK, February 27(RIA Novosti) - Russia's mayor of Irkutsk, in Eastern Siberian region, and his first deputy have been charged with the murder of a liberal party deputy, a law enforcement agency said.
Alexander Babuchenko, a deputy of Sljudjanskaya regional parliament, was found dead in his garage having been shot in the head in the city of Baikalsk two years ago. The investigators said it was a contract-style killing committed for commercial reasons.
Vasiliy Saikov, the mayor of Irkutsk, and Hasan Ramazanov, his first deputy, who were detained by police on suspicion of ordering the murder, pleaded not guilty.
The person who allegedly committed the deputy's murder, has been arrested, the source said.
