KRASNODAR, March 7 (RIA Novosti) - One teenager was killed and another seriously injured as the wall of an abandoned building collapsed in Maikop in southern Russia, the city administration said Wednesday.
The accident occurred at about 4 p.m. Moscow time (1 p.m. GMT) Tuesday as students were demolishing the half-ruined building at the request of their school principal.
"One of the walls of the building being demolished caved in, killing a teenager. Another boy was taken to intensive care," the administration said, adding that nine other students witnessed the accident.
Maikop's police chief, Vladimir Kotlyarov, said the injured boy was in serious but stable condition.
The principal of the special technical school was detained pending an investigation.
