Two officials in governor's ball food poisoning case to be fired
Regional Governor Alexander Khloponin said the organizers of the IQ Ball were guilty of flagrant violations of sanitary norms.
Four of the more than 200 people poisoned at the ball remain hospitalized.
Local prosecutor Sergei Feoktistov said the results of expert examinations would soon be submitted, however one of the cooks involved in preparations for the ball has already been diagnosed with salmonellosis.
A criminal case has been launched to investigate the poisoning. Six investigators from the local prosecutor's office, police officers, and inspectors from Russia's consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, are taking part.
The ball, thrown by Krasnoyarsk Governor Alexander Khloponin March 1, brought together almost 1,500 people. Of those who fell ill, most were poisoned by eating tainted sandwiches.
An investigation revealed that the company that prepared salads and hot d'oeuvres for the ball did not have a permit to handle food.
The local prosecutor said all the companies involved in the purchase of food for the ball had been identified.
