KRASNOYARSK, March 28 (RIA Novosti) - Prosecutors in the Krasnoyarsk Territory in West Siberia have launched a criminal case against two ex-cons accused of the contract murder of a 19-year-old girl, the daughter of one of the men, a prosecutor's office spokesman said Wednesday.
The spokesman said the girl's grandmother reported her missing February 21, 2007. An investigation revealed that the girl's mother had earlier been deprived of her maternal rights, and that her father had never lived with the family.
A year ago the girl found her father, who had been released from jail after serving time for fraud.
A local prosecutor said: "The girl's father learned that she had inherited an apartment and persuaded her to sell it. Simultaneously, he hired an acquaintance to kill the girl for the money she got for it," he said.
The killer earned 104,000 rubles ($3,997) from the murder.
Both men have been arrested and an investigation is underway, the source said.
