"A 17-year-old sexually active citizen of the city of Petropavlovsk has admitted in the course of an investigation that she, despite being aware of her positive HIV diagnosis, continued sexual encounters with men," Yevgeny Kurdenkov, a deputy head of the local police interrogation department, said.
Kurdenkov said that the teenager had, by her own admission, over 100 encounters, but that only four men have been identified so far, with one already diagnosed as HIV positive and three others still being tested.
"Most of her sexual encounters were spontaneous, and the girl could not definitively provide more names," he said.
He added that a criminal case on charges of premeditated attempts to infect others with the HIV virus have been launched against the girl, who refused to explain her actions.
