"The bodies of two miners were found last night in a flooded section of the Ulyanovskaya mine. They have been brought to the surface and identified," said Marina Chalapko, press spokesperson of Yuzhkuzbassugol co-owned by Russia's second largest steelmaker Evraz Group.
Chalapko said the miners would be buried Thursday and efforts to clear the section of coal and sludge were continuing before the mine would begin to be repaired.
A technical standards body that investigated Russia's worst mine accident in 75 years, said Tuesday a short circuit had caused the explosion in Russia's largest coal-producing center in the Kemerovo Region.
Investigators also said methane sensors had been illegally readjusted to display lower methane levels in the mine following the installation of British safety equipment.
